ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

 

 

LOCATION:  Crooked River Elementary School

START DATE:  July 1, 2025 for the 2025/26 school year

DAYS & HOURS:  210 Days; 8 hours per day 

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  Open Until Filled

SALARY:  $96,431 to $106,914 (based on 2025/25 salary) Dependent upon education and experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Holds an Oregon TSPC Teaching License as well as TSPC Principal/Administrative License

 

Position Summary: 

The Elementary School Assistant Principal is part of the Elementary School Administrative Team with responsibility for supervising assigned teachers, monitoring implementation of curriculum goals as assigned, oversight of student discipline.  The Assistant Principal also provides direction and an environment that enables students to acquire learning skills needed to make choices as responsible citizens, today and in the future.

 

Nature of Position:

  • Reports directly to the School Principal
  • Responsive to Superintendent, Directors, School Administrative Team
  • Oversight of school discipline program
  • Monitors curriculum implementation and best practices as assigned
  • Observe, evaluate and coach teachers
  • Observe and evaluate classified employees as assigned
  • Evaluate academic program as directed
  • Assuming the principal’s roles in his/her absence
  • Leads or assists with coordinating school programs
  • Participates in school and district activities
  • Support the Principal in creating systems and procedures that create a positive, effective and efficient education environment
  • Work with Principal and other designated staff on building and implementing the school master schedule
  • Participate in other district related duties related to continuous improvement and staff development

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Holds a TSPC Teaching License with 3 years’ successful teaching experience required
  • Holds a TSPC Administrator Endorsement with 2 years’ successful administrator experience preferred
  • Holds a valid Oregon driver’s license and current first-aid card
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable
  • Willing and capable of participating in additional training as directed
  • Embodies and practices life-long learning perspective and strives for Continuous Improvement
  • Believes that all students can learn and that a student failing is not an option
  • Models appropriate attire and interpersonal behavior
  • Models Oregon Teacher Ethical Educator Standards
  • Embodies a strong work ethic, maintains regular attendance, willing to work evenings and occasional Saturdays, performs the physical, mental and emotional requirements associated with successful performance
  • Excellent verbal, written, math, computer and organizational skills
  • Experience in developing master schedules desirable
  • Possesses or is willing to obtain experience and/or knowledge about the AVID program and its implementation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of School Law, Student Rights, Human Resource Management, Contract Law, Title IX, Budget, Accounting

Examples of Performance Responsibilities: (Includes but not limited to)

  • Maintain teaching and administrative endorsements;
  • Implement and supervise district’s instructional and student assessment programs at the building level as assigned;
  • Train licensed staff in instructional strategies;
  • Train licensed staff in assessment strategies and interpretation of assessment data;
  • Undertake program evaluation as directed;
  • Maintain a First Aid Card;
  • Support and hold others accountable for adhering to District policies and administrative rules;
  • Coordinate selection, supervision and perform formative and summative evaluations of personnel and assigned instructional programs and staff;
  • Maintain a learning and working environment that is conducive for learning and work;
  • Promote good public relations within and outside the District;
  • Oversee Student Teacher Placement and monitor Student Teacher performance as well as Mentor Teacher Role;
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as required by the task or directed by the Principal or Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.

Terms of Employment:

Employed at the Principal’s recommendation to the Human Resource Director and to the Superintendent and ratified by Board upon Superintendent’s recommendation.  An At-Will employ whose salary is contingent upon the Board adopted Administrator Pay Schedule. 

 

Evaluation/Performance Review:

Evaluated by the Principal as appropriate and directed by the Superintendent. 

 

Physical Requirements:

May work alone at times but usually must interact with students, parents, and varied staff.  During any day may:

  • Stand/walk 6-8 hours or more
  • Drive 1-5 hours or more at a time
  • Engage students, parents, teachers, coaches, other administrators and managers
  • Use hands repetitively on computer, grasping, pushing
  • Sit 1-4 hours or more
  • May need to bend, squat, climb, lift 50 or more pounds, administer CPR or first aid
