JOB SUMMARY
Primary duties involve supervising and taking care of students in the In-School Suspension Room and keeping discipline records current. Assist the Attendance Secretary and other office staff when possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the ISS Room during the school day and up to an hour after school, including supervising lunch detention. Students may also be in the ISS room on contracted workdays when school is closed.
- Support graduation coach and admin team with making parent contact and home visits for chronically absent students.
- Monitor Credit recovery software. Make phone calls to parents for students who are not making progress.
- Take students who are in ISS to work on various projects around campus.
- Communicate with staff to ensure that students are making progress towards course work while in ISS.
- Help with monitoring the campus as needed to promote student safety.
- Arrange for student lunches and request homework for suspended students as well as meeting their other needs (medical, school supplies, computer issues, etc.)
- Proctor exams and work with students who need homework assistance.
- Monitor incoming referrals in the school software and enter them into the current school year’s ISS log / guidance Excel spreadsheet. Gather any missing necessary details, combine duplicate referrals received on the same student incident, correct and follow up on discrepancies, check disposition dates and ensure all required information is entered for reports.
- Track all assigned detentions, suspensions and other consequences served or not yet completed. Keep the designated administrator(s) updated on the status of pending referrals and consequences. Each open record must be viewed daily and modified as needed to stay current. When consequences are completed or records are closed, update referrals in both the school software and ISS log / guidance spreadsheet.
- Call parents about absent students or provide other assistance to the Attendance Secretary.
- Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
- Assist students with first aid, from minor to major injuries.
- Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
- Fulfill performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or post high school certification. Higher education or equivalent training and/or experience preferred.
- Able to relate well to students, staff and public, including dealing with individuals in emotionally charged and sensitive situations. Prefer experience and/or training working with teenagers who have behavioral issues.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision, learn assigned tasks readily and multi-task despite frequent interruptions.
- Read, understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions.
- Proficiency in Excel required along with Word, Outlook and Windows experience.
- Able to perform satisfactorily on the district's basic skills test, including typing at least 60 WPM.
- Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials and money, as required by the position.
- Possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Adhere to the federal requirements of a drug-free work place.

- Working closely with students can be physically and emotionally demanding.
