DAYS & HOURS:  260 days per year; 8 hours per day; Thursday - Monday; 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM

SALARY: $17.87 to $22.73 per hour depending on experience (summer rate will change to days $17.18 to $21.86) May change based on collective bargaining process

Job Title:          Lead Custodian/ Night-Lead Custodian

Reports To:      Building Engineer

FLSA Status:    Non-Exempt

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Directs the custodial staff in providing a clean and safe environment for the school's students. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Fills a position designated for Lead Custodian or Night-Lead Custodian as assigned.
  2. Performs all general cleaning duties of the School Custodian classification, including emergency cleanup as required.
  3. Provides direct supervision for custodial staff.
  4. Opens the building each school day. Sees that all systems are up and running. (Lead only)
  5. Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repair as required.
  6. Monitors heating, cooling and ventilation systems and performs routine adjustments to building systems. (Lead only)
  7. Inspects for safety, sanitary and fire hazards on school property.
  8. Sets up and cleans up cafeteria as required.
  9. Mows, weeds and sprays weeds around buildings & curbs (Lead only)
  10. Is custodial representative on building safety committee, member of the building disaster preparedness team and holds a current first aid card (Lead only)
  11. Coordinates the setting up, oversight and taking down of evening activities in the school buildings.
  12. Basic computers skills required.
  13. Fulfill other duties as assigned.
  14. Fulfill performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or the equivalent.
  2. Able to relate well to students, staff and public.
  3. Read, understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions.
  4. Adhere to the federal requirements of a drug-free work place.
  5. Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials and money, as required by the position.
  6. Able to perform the duties of School Custodian.
  7. Possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Driver's License.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Length of Work Year: 260 Days.  Length of Work Day:  8 hours (Powell Butte on split shift – hours/days as assigned) (Paulina – days/hours as assigned).
  2. Possess the physical ability to regularly attend work and fulfill the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  3. Be able to travel within district and to Crook County Landfill and/ or Paulina Transfer Station, even during times of inclement weather. (Lead only)
  4. Lift, move, or be able to carry objects weighing 60 lbs.
  5. Responsibilities may require the employee to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
  6. Able to work from scaffolding and ladders.
