DAYS & HOURS:  190 day; 7.33 hours per day (will prorate for 24/25 School Year)

Job Title:          Title 1 Reading Teacher

Department:     Special Education

Reports To:       Principal

FLSA Status:      Exempt

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Title 1 teacher promotes and develops successful reading instruction for students and performs related duties in accordance with District policies and terms of the teacher contract.  The Title 1 teacher is responsible for group and individual instruction of reading for students who meet state and federal guidelines, and consistently measures and evaluates student progress.  The Title 1 teacher supervises and develops lessons for educational assistants.  The Title 1 teacher is also responsible for partnering with families through collaboration, communication and education.

    • Implement a variety of assessment instruments to determine eligibility and instructional needs of students in reading.
    • Collect, organize, analyze and monitor student data.
    • Use student data to effectively evaluate the success of reading program.
    • Maintain appropriate and accurate records of student performance.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marginal duties of this position include the following.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Serve on building, District and school committees and councils.
  2. Report issues to authorities as necessary, such as animal control, suspicious activity etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may supervise volunteers, student aides, and instructional assistants.  All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
