JOB SUMMARY

 

General Description: Under the general direction of the Director of Technology (IT) perform the full range of hardware and software system design, development, implementation, and maintenance activities related to the district’s Windows-based technology infrastructure. Participate in evaluating and recommending new technologies which enhance and support the district’s business plan, and provide technical advice and support to district users in the appropriate use of technology. Designs, evaluates and installs various operating systems including VMware, Linux/Unix, Windows, and Apple.

EDUCATION: 

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (or equivalent) is preferred, or a combination of an Associate’s degree and at least five years of related experience. Preference given to candidate possessing industry standard certification in technology related fields.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Work in a sometimes-chaotic environment and still maintain task organization and strategic direction.  May involve exposure to noisy work areas. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is required to frequently walk (occasionally on an uneven surface), frequently sit and reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Tasks require extreme accuracy and concentration; the employee works with continual interruptions.  Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, with attention to detail and with minimal supervision.  Ability to stand for extended periods of time.  Walk frequently and for distance of 1-2 miles at a time.  Able to lift 30 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on occasion.  Able to bend, twist, stoop and reach frequently.  Hand dexterity for computer work and keyboarding skills at a minimum of 45 words per minute.
